Actually, there's the rub: you see, I can't normally hear different accents in languages that I can't speak. I speak English and Spanish, so I can identify the difference between a Puerto Rican, an Argentine, and a Spaniard.
I don't speak Portuguese. I can't tell the differnce between a Portuguese, a Brazilian, and a Mozambican, because I don't speak that language.

great idea, this esperanto business... but... it's heavily biased towards people who already know a european language, i.e. it would be much harder to learn for someone from the middle east, south/southeast asia, the Orient, and pacific islands
